Pricing

One free tier that's actually useful. No urgency mechanics.

No countdown, no strikethrough anchor price, no "contact us" hiding a number. What you see here is what it costs.

Pricing

Priced for students, including where $59 is a lot of money

The main audience for Reader is students, some in countries where $59 a year is a real sum. Students anywhere pay the Student price with an academic email. Regional pricing for Africa, South Asia and Latin America is applied through the payment processor. This is who the product is priced for, not a footnote.

What we never charge for

Dyslexia mode, the focus ruler, text-to-speech and bionic reading are free forever

That's a commitment, not an introductory offer. It costs almost no revenue and it's the part of the product we're least willing to gate.

Questions about the plans

What is a seat?

One person's access on a Teams or Classrooms plan. The instructor's own seat is free.

What is the aggregate class view?

A summary of how a whole class did on an assigned reading. It shows which paragraphs slowed people down or got re-read, for the class as a group, and never names anyone. At launch this is the only mode: instructors see the group, never an individual.

What is a reading receipt?

A record the extension produces after a reading session, signed by the server so it cannot be changed afterward. It shows what the reader's own browser reported, and it confirms the record is unaltered since it was issued. It is not proof that reading happened.

What is SSO?

Single sign-on. Staff and students use their existing institutional login instead of creating a new password. Available on Teams and Institution, not on the free Pilot.

What is a DPA?

A data processing agreement. The contract institutions need that sets out how data is handled under privacy law. Offered to institutional customers, not on the free Pilot.

Other questions

Do I need a webcam?

No. There is no camera in v1. Reading detection works with your reading pattern alone.

Can my school see my data?

Only if you submit it. Per-student receipts reach an instructor solely when that student chooses to submit one. Aggregate class views are anonymous.

What happens when I cancel?

Paid features stop at the end of the billing period you already paid for; the free tier keeps working. You can export your data at any time. See the refund policy for the full terms.

What's your refund policy?

Covered in full at /legal/refunds, including EU distance-selling withdrawal rights.

Can I get my data out?

Yes. Export is available on request and is part of what cancelling honours. Details in the privacy policy.
